Baltimore Ravens guard Ben Cleveland has officially earned the title of “off-field action hero,” but, sadly, in the negative sense. He was suspended for the next three games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. So even if he’s not playing, at least he can stay active on social media—Ben’s new full-time job.

Although Cleveland has spent most of the season as a backup or healthy scratch, he will miss the upcoming games against the Cincinnati Bengals (Dec 14), New England Patriots (Dec 21), and Green Bay Packers (Dec 28). “

This isn’t exactly breaking news—Cleveland hasn’t seen much action on the field since the Ravens drafted him in the third round in 2021. And with his rookie deal ending after the 2024 season, the Ravens re-signed him to a one-year, $1.17 million contract.

Off the field, things haven’t been any less dramatic. The 27-year-old was arrested for a DUI during the offseason but received probation after a plea deal. So this three-game suspension is really just another “plot twist” in his career.

Football fans might joke that while you don’t see Ben on the field, at least he’s trending in the news. In reality, he’s probably spending more time on the couch than on the turf—a fact reflected in his minimal playing stats. Looking ahead, Cleveland is set to become an unrestricted free agent after this season, so maybe this three-game suspension will just be another humorous chapter in his NFL story.

Meanwhile, social media is having a field day—if you don’t see Cleveland on the field, it’s not just fans feeling the loss; maybe the Ravens coaching staff is enjoying a little extra breathing room too.
