The magical days of Arrowhead Stadium are coming to an end for the Kansas City Chiefs. By 2031, GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium will close its doors, and the team will move to Kansas to build a state-of-the-art stadium, headquarters, and practice facility. As soon as the news broke, head coach Andy Reid and defensive tackle Chris Jones shared their reactions with the media.
Reid, who has seen the Philadelphia Eagles move from Veterans Stadium to Lincoln Financial Field, expressed his excitement: “I followed it. I think it’s phenomenal news… Plus, it will be a beautiful facility and something the fans will be very proud of. It will definitely be loud, and those will be exciting times there.” He made it clear that the move isn’t a huge deal—Arrowhead’s magic is just moving a little further away. At 67, he might not directly enjoy the new stadium, but it’s still exciting news.
Jones also shared his perspective, showing his love for Arrowhead: “Anytime you step into Arrowhead it’s fun. You feel the love, you feel the energy. And then, you know, you’re playing for something greater than yourself…”

He acknowledged the business reality too, knowing he might not play in the new stadium. “Listen, man, there’s a lot of history in that stadium… Yeah, I won’t be playing then, man. I won’t be playing then, I hope I have a seat somewhere in the suite or somewhere wherever they plan to build this thing yet. But, oh man, that’s so far away, but so close, man, and whatever they do, wherever we play it for the next few years now, I’ll be appreciative. But I have so much love for Kansas City, Missouri, and (Kansas City), Kansas. So, wherever we play at.”
Keep the stadium in KC

Funny enough, while speaking to reporters, Jones was wearing a Chiefs hat featuring Missouri’s design—maybe a small oversight, but he’s clearly ready for the next era. Despite any business realities, both stars understand that the fans’ love and loyalty will carry on at the new stadium.
In the end, Arrowhead’s history will always be cherished, and the Kansas stadium will start a new chapter. Reid and Jones make it clear for the fans: no matter where they play, the love for Chiefs Kingdom remains unwavering.
