Chiefs Catch Heat After Forgetting the Whole “Check His Brain” Part on Rashee Rice Hit

Kansas City Chiefs might be struggling on offense this season, but their medical staff just went for a brand-new world record in How to Not Notice a Concussion 101. Against the Houston Texans, Rashee Rice took a hit so brutal it made viewers say “Oof” from their couches — yet on the sideline? Silence. Medical tent? Absolutely missing, like it never existed.

The hit came late in the third quarter when Jalen Pitre delivered a tackle worthy of its own nature documentary. Normally, NFL protocol says: “See violent hit → Immediately check brain.”
But the Chiefs apparently went with: “He stood up? Cool, he’s fine.”

And that moment — the one NFL Twitter is replaying on loop

Mike Florio pointed out that Rice’s fall and limb positioning were giant red flags screaming for a concussion evaluation. But the Chiefs shrugged: “Red flags? Didn’t see any.”

According to the team, Rice showed no concussion symptoms, therefore no check was needed. The NFL hasn’t said anything yet — possibly still recovering from the fact they fined the New York Giants $300,000+ earlier this season for improper concussion procedures.
So yeah… the Chiefs might want to keep a piggy bank ready.

And of course, the other viral gem making rounds:

Meanwhile, the Chiefs’ playoff hopes are basically on life support. With a 6–7 record and an offense that looks like it forgot how to football, the last thing they needed was a concussion controversy tossed into the chaos blender.

Whether the league steps in or not, the spotlight is now firmly on how the Chiefs handle player safety moving forward — because if they miss one more obvious concussion sign, fans might start offering them free eye exams.
