The Kansas City Chiefs are currently in contract discussions with their key cornerback Trent McDuffie. In the 2024 season, McDuffie recorded 13 pass breakups, interceptions, and a forced fumble, establishing himself as an essential player for the team.
McDuffie is now entering the final year of his rookie contract, and the team has exercised his fifth-year option for 2026, guaranteeing him $13.6 million. However, talks to extend his contract have not yet resulted in a final agreement.
Head coach Andy Reid has praised McDuffie, noting that he possesses a unique characteristic that sets him apart. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has also acknowledged his talent during practice.
Despite the contract uncertainty, both McDuffie and the team remain focused and optimistic about the season. However, if a resolution isn’t reached, it could slightly impact the Chiefs’ Super Bowl aspirations.
