Browns Finish Preseason 3-0 with Szmyt’s Game-Winning Field Goal
The Cleveland Browns closed out the preseason with a perfect 3-0 record, defeating the Los Angeles Rams 19–17 in a thrilling finale. Rookie kicker Andre Szmyt was the hero of the night, drilling a clutch 37-yard field goal in the final seconds to secure the win.
Quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Tyler Huntley both impressed in late-game situations. Gabriel engineered an 86-yard touchdown drive just before halftime, while Huntley guided a 46-yard march in the closing moments that set up Szmyt’s game-winner.
The night also marked the debut of veteran QB Joe Flacco in a Browns uniform. After missing his first throw, Flacco connected on nine straight passes, finishing with 71 yards and a touchdown. His steady play gave the Browns an early spark and confidence heading into the regular season.
The kicker competition remains one of the most intriguing roster battles. While Dustin Hopkins converted a short field goal, he missed an extra point for the second time this preseason. Szmyt, on the other hand, stayed perfect and delivered when it mattered most.
With strong quarterback depth, a clutch rookie kicker, and veteran leadership, the Browns look poised and confident as they head into Week 1.
