Just when the Seattle Seahawks were busy celebrating their playoff-bound glow-up, the NFL decided to sprinkle in a little disciplinary drama. The reason? Outside linebacker Derick Hall apparently got a bit too creative with his footwork. Result: a one-game suspension, without pay. In pure Daily Snark terms—he showed up to play football and accidentally performed a wrestling move.
The incident went down Thursday night at Lumen Field. Seahawks vs. Rams, first quarter. The play was over, bodies were untangling, and everyone was supposed to reset. Instead, Hall stepped on Los Angeles Rams guard Kevin Dotson’s leg while Dotson was still on the ground. Subtle? Nope. Forgettable? Definitely not.
The NFL made it clear they were not amused. In their official explanation, they spelled it out in black and white:
Per the NFL: Seahawks linebacker Derick Hall has been suspended for one game for an act of unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct during Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

During the first quarter, Hall unnecessarily stepped on the leg of Rams guard Kevin…
Translation: enjoy watching the Panthers game from the couch, Derick.
Dotson, meanwhile, didn’t just shake it off and move on. He exited the game with an ankle injury and never returned. Later, he was spotted outside the Rams’ locker room on crutches, rocking a walking boot—never a good accessory unless you’re auditioning for a medical drama.
Of course, the internet did what it always does: replay, zoom, debate, repeat. The moment that got Hall suspended is now frozen in video form for eternity:

Yes, appealing. According to Adam Schefter, Hall “absolutely” plans to appeal the suspension. Whether that works or not, the short-term impact is real. Hall is a key piece of Seattle’s four-man outside linebacker rotation, averaging about 30 snaps per game.
Stat-wise, he’s been solid if unspectacular this season: one sack and 10 QB hits in 13 games, after posting eight sacks and 20 QB hits the year before. Not exactly a guy you want missing time—especially when your team is rolling.
The Seahawks sit at 12–3, have clinched a playoff spot, and currently own first place in the NFC West. But this whole episode is a reminder of one simple NFL truth: stepping on opponents is a fast way to trip yourself up.
