Derrick Henry apologize

Once upon a time, Derrick Henry was known as the “human bulldozer.” He’d smash through defensive lines like a train with no brakes. But now? It feels like the brakes are on his own hands. Three straight games, three straight fumbles — and Ravens fans are screaming, “Boss, if you can’t hold the ball, where exactly are we supposed to go with this offense?”

On Monday night against the Detroit Lions, in the fourth quarter of a tight game, Henry once again coughed it up. That mistake led to a 38-30 loss for Baltimore. Furious, Henry slammed his helmet and threw himself down on the bench in frustration. Afterward, he admitted on camera.

In the postgame interview, Henry said, “I apologize to Flock Nation. It’s not a good feeling. I’m going to keep working to get it fixed.”

Owning the mistake is nice, but the problem is—this doesn’t look like a one-time slip-up anymore. It’s turning into a trend.

Henry himself admitted how frustrated he is:
“It’s just crazy. Three fumbles [in three games] straight. I’m trying every day to fix the problem that just keeps occurring, so I’m trying to work on it. I’m my worst critic, so I’m not going to try to beat myself up too much, but it’s hard not to when it’s consecutive and consistent [instances] of me doing the same thing.”

Coach John Harbaugh tried to soften the blow, pointing out it wasn’t entirely Henry’s fault:
“It hasn’t been (a problem), and I don’t think it’ll be going forward, but we have to get it fixed.” Harbaugh explained that Lions defender Aidan Hutchinson landed a “perfect storm” punch-out. Ravens fans, though, aren’t in the mood for weather metaphors — they just want Henry to hold on to the football.

Last season, Henry fumbled only three times on 325 carries. This season? Already three fumbles on just 41 carries. Did someone forget to restock the glue on his gloves?

Ravens Nation is now praying Henry gets back to his old self. Because if this trend keeps up, Baltimore’s running game won’t just slip on the field—it might slip out of playoff contention entirely.
