Washington Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu just tackled himself into big trouble! The NFL announced Monday night that Luvu has been suspended one game without pay for repeatedly breaking player safety rules.

The main issue? His repeated use of the “hip-drop tackle” — a move that’s dangerous for opponents and, apparently, for his own paycheck too.

According to the NFL’s official statement:

“Washington Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu has been suspended without pay for one game for repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players, including during Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.”

In plain English — keep twisting hips like that, and the only thing you’ll be tackling next is your own bank account.

Luvu reportedly plans to appeal the decision. But according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, if the appeal fails, he’ll miss Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions — and lose his $508,333 game check in the process.

Meanwhile, Commanders coach isn’t thrilled either. Losing one of his key defensive players right before facing Detroit is the kind of hit you don’t recover from easily.

Fans on social media are divided — some say “player safety first,” while others joke, “At this rate, players will be tackling with pillows next season.”

And honestly, Luvu’s pain is understandable — one wrong tackle, and suddenly your paycheck takes a hip drop too.

The NFL made it clear — “If you don’t follow the rules, your wallet will.”
