The New York Giants might finally be ready to stop pressing the reset button every other season. According to multiple reports, the franchise is finalizing a deal to make longtime Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh their next head coach. If nothing unexpectedly blows up at the last second, Big Blue is about to land one of the most respected names in NFL coaching.
Insiders say the conversations are serious, detailed, and very much real. As ESPN reports,
John Harbaugh and the Giants are working to finalize an agreement to make him New York’s next head coach and, barring a setback, a deal is expected, multiple sources tell ESPN.

Translation for Giants fans who have been hurt before: this is happening, just don’t pop the champagne yet.
The New York Post backed it up as well, making things feel even more official.
All signs point to John Harbaugh becoming the next head coach of the Giants, the Post has learned.

Harbaugh, now 63, is not some trendy coordinator with a fancy playbook and zero head coaching scars. He spent 18 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, went 180-113, won a Super Bowl in 2012, and collected NFL Coach of the Year honors in 2019. In other words, he knows how to run a franchise that actually wins games, something the Giants have struggled with lately while going 7-27 over the last two seasons.
The Giants were also clearly serious about their interest. They were the first team to bring Harbaugh into the building, hosting him for an all day interview before flying him back on owner Steve Tisch’s private jet. And no, this was not a courtesy visit. One league voice summed up the situation perfectly.
Yes, the Giants let John Harbaugh leave the building.

But they had a feeling he would be back.
Huge get for the entire franchise.
Guess Harbaugh was not scared off by working with GM Joe Schoen.
Perhaps the most telling sign is what did not happen. Harbaugh was scheduled to meet with the Tennessee Titans afterward, but that meeting is now off. When a coach cancels interviews, it usually means the decision is already made.
For a franchise desperate for stability, credibility, and fewer weekly embarrassments, John Harbaugh feels less like a gamble and more like a long overdue adult in the room.
