Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has always been a man full of confidence—sometimes too much. Just a month ago, he traded away the team’s most terrifying defender, Micah Parsons, to the Green Bay Packers. Fans thought maybe Jerry was making retirement decisions while puffing on one too many cigars.
But nope. With Parsons returning to AT&T Stadium this Sunday night, Jones is still claiming his Cowboys will “shut him down.”
In a radio interview, Jones praised Parsons but also couldn’t resist sliding in a little dig:
Jerry Jones on how the #DallasCowboys plan to attack Micah Parsons on Sunday:

“While he does make great plays, there is also a way to approach playing against Micah. As we know, we didn’t exactly win the Super Bowl those years.” pic.twitter.com/zyoA8rKILf
Translation? Parsons is good, but in Jerry’s eyes, he’s not exactly Superman. (Fans, meanwhile, are saying: “Come on Jerry, you just didn’t want to pay the man, so now you’re rewriting the story.”)
The trade itself was wild. A four-time Pro Bowler, Parsons signed a four-year, $188 million deal with Green Bay, with $136 million guaranteed. Jones refused to hand out that kind of money. So Dallas ended up with two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. In simple terms—Dallas got scratch-off lottery tickets, while the Packers got the Hulk.
Jones insists the Cowboys’ experience is enough to neutralize Parsons. He pointed out that they’ve seen him up close for four years and “know how to deal with him.” (Though, let’s not forget, those were also four Super Bowl–less years.)
The truth is, all eyes will be on Parsons come Sunday night. Will he prove Jones’ decision was a brain flat tire? Or will Jerry grin and say, “See, I was right all along”?
One thing is certain—this is must-watch TV. And if Parsons gets a couple of sacks, Jerry’s face alone might be the biggest meme of the season.
