For New York Jets fans, this season is slowly turning into a tragic comedy. On one hand, there’s quarterback drama, and on the other, the injury factory keeps running. The latest victim? Second-year running back Braelon Allen.
Head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed that Allen’s knee injury is no joke. Yes, that very same knee sprain that initially looked “not too serious” has now officially landed him on Injured Reserve. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport first reported the situation:

After an impressive rookie campaign, many expected Allen to have his breakout year. Instead, he’s been stuck in Breece Hall’s shadow. Just 18 carries for 76 yards, one touchdown, and two receptions for 17 yards—stats so underwhelming that even fantasy football managers are sighing, “Yeah, we messed up our draft pick.”
The Jets didn’t waste time, though. Right after placing Allen on IR, they signed running back Khalil Herbert. But the question remains—can Herbert actually fill Allen’s shoes? Or will Jets fans once again find themselves saying, “Man, it was easier to build a good team on Madden than in real life.”
One thing is crystal clear: the Jets’ injury report is starting to look less like a football team’s roster and more like a hospital patient list. Who’s next week’s addition? The guy who carries the water bottles?
