If any team thinks they can win in the NFL with just one magician–their QB–they might still be living in a Marvel movie, not a football game. The Kansas City Chiefs quickly realized in 2025 that Mahomes can work his magic, but if the rest of the team is snoozing, the game is going to flop.

Travis Kelce is now carrying the weight of age on the field. The hands that used to be in “superglue mode” now sometimes feel like “butterfingers deluxe edition.” That drop at the goal line in the last game? Pure tragic comedy.

Even Mahomes seemed exhausted chanting “work, work, work” during the postgame press conference. You almost felt like he was rehearsing a Rihanna song instead of a game plan. Coach Andy Reid also knows that if this team doesn’t put in the work, their 0–2 start could land them in NFL history books for all the wrong reasons.

And Kelce? After dropping that ball, his reaction looked like he had just tried to use Google Magic Lens to make the football disappear.

The funny part? Everyone is still looking at Mahomes, as if he’s going to pull a Tom Brady-level miracle. The truth is, with Kelce hitting 36 and Chris Jones showing “aged version” at 31, you can’t blame Mahomes alone. The new receivers are out with injuries or suspensions, so supporting cast feels like a TV rerun—bad script, old dialogue.

So, the solution? The Chiefs need to stop waiting for “magic” and start putting in the “work.” As Michael Strahan would say: “You eat whether you’re hungry or not!” Otherwise, this season might only serve a menu of scrubbing pots and washing pans.
