Known for catching passes on the field, this wide receiver is now catching headlines in court. Rashee Rice is back in controversy, and the story has shifted from the sports pages straight into legal drama.
Rice’s ex-girlfriend and the mother of his two children, Dacoda Jones, filed a civil lawsuit in Dallas County seeking $1 million in damages. The allegations read more like a thriller script: physical assault, property destruction, and being locked out of the home in the middle of the night — all described as a 19-month nightmare. According to the filing, the abuse allegedly took place from December 2023 through July 2025, including periods when Jones was pregnant.
The lawsuit details incidents involving choking, pushing, and ongoing emotional distress. Earlier, Jones hinted at the situation through social media posts showing injuries, without naming Rice. After their relationship ended, the claims became public and escalated into legal action.
In the complaint, the language used was explosive:
Rashee Rice's longtime GF and mom of his two kids filed an explosive lawsuit against the NFL star, accusing him of choking, strangling, scratching, hitting, and headbutting her over a nightmare 19-month period.

Rice’s attorney also responded, though in a more formal tone:

Rice’s team stated they are aware of the situation and remain in communication with the league. This matters because the league previously suspended Rice for six games after a traffic-related incident. In that earlier case, he pleaded guilty to felony charges tied to a hit-and-run and received jail time along with probation.
Despite the off-field issues, Rice’s on-field numbers were solid. After serving his suspension, he recorded 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns last season. The stats show clear potential, but each offseason seems to bring a new storyline away from football.
The big question now: can Rice repair his public image in the final year of his rookie contract, or will courtroom drama continue to dominate the headlines?
