Adam Thielen Patrick Mahomes NFL controversy

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen didn’t exactly discover something new—but his frustration with referees seems off the charts. Even days after Week 10’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Thielen is still heated about the officiating. Listening to him, you’d think some of these refs have completely forgotten the rulebook.

Thielen told KFAN’s Power Trip Morning Show, “I think we need to have full time referees. I think it’s ridiculous that we have — and no offense to these guys, I mean, they obviously love their job, and they put a lot of time into it, I know they do”

His point is clear: the NFL is a multibillion-dollar empire, yet many referees are only part-time. To make matters worse, some of them apparently act like fanboys who just love shaking hands with Patrick Mahomes. As Thielen put it, “Like, they love the fact that they get to go out there and they get to shake hands with Patrick Mahomes. They get to hang out with these professional athletes. Then they go to their real job on Monday through Friday, and tell everybody how cool their side job is.”

Clearly, Thielen is taking sarcasm to a whole new level. On one hand, players are diving and colliding on the field; on the other, some refs can’t stop watching superstar Mahomes. And the game? That’s just a side show.

Maybe the NFL should take Thielen’s advice and hire full-time referees. Questionable calls are affecting games, and it’s not just annoying—it’s downright hilarious. Imagine players giving their all on the field while refs are back at their real jobs Monday through Friday bragging, “Hey, I shook hands with Patrick Mahomes today!”

At the end of the day, Thielen isn’t just a player; he’s practically a social critic. He reminds us that the game isn’t only about entertainment—it’s about being properly officiated. And if a few refs’ fanboy antics are ruining that, maybe it’s time for the NFL to consider full-time referees.
